Trapezoid Area Calculator

A trapezoid has two parallel sides of different lengths. Its area equals the average of those two sides multiplied by the height between them: A = (a + b) / 2 × h. With bases of 6 and 10 and a height of 4, the area is 32.

Trapezoids appear in roof cross-sections, land parcels, ramps and lampshades. The formula effectively treats the shape as a rectangle with the mean width. For simpler shapes, use the triangle or rectangle area calculators.
