Hourly to Annual Salary
The formula
Annual salary = hourly wage × hours per week × 52
The calculator assumes 52 paid weeks, which is how salaried employees are paid: paid holidays are included in the annual salary. Divide by 12 to get the monthly amount.

A full-time year at 40 hours a week counts 2,080 hours (40 × 52); at 35 hours, 1,820 hours. In France, the legal 35-hour week corresponds to 151.67 hours per month (35 × 52 ÷ 12), the figure found on payslips.
Gross vs net
The result is in the same terms as the hourly rate you enter — usually gross, before deductions. Take-home pay can be much lower:
- France: employee social contributions take roughly 22% of gross pay for most private-sector employees (around 25% for executives), before income tax withheld at source.
- United Kingdom: income tax and National Insurance depend on the income band.
- United States: federal, state and payroll taxes vary by state and situation.
When the formula needs adjusting
- Freelancers and contractors are not paid for holidays or sick days. Multiply by the weeks you actually bill (often 44–47), not 52.
- Overtime paid at a higher rate increases the annual figure beyond this estimate.
- Part-time or variable hours: use your average weekly hours over several months.
